Perris league success

Over the Winter months we again entered a team into the Perris Junior Indoor League.

Last year we did very well and topped division 3, so this year we moved up to division 2

Unfortunately, Alex Allam became too old, so could no longer compete as a junior in this league.

We started the season with only 3 recurve and 1 barebow junior archers (3 best Half Portsmouth scores had to be submitted each month). Unfortunately Hannah injured her shoulder in November.

We competed in 4 of the 7 matches using Daisy’s barebow score (this league doesn’t give any handicap between barebows and recurves, so it was always going difficult to win)

I think that we did very well to get 4th place.

Daisy’s scores kept getting better each month and although her average score only placed her 6th of 6 of all Barebow Girls (2nd of 2 under 12 Barebow Girls), Daisy’s score would have placed her 7th of 10 as an under 12 Recurve Girl, which is fantastic.

Jodie’s average score was 4th of 106 of all Recurve Girls (2nd of 36 under 16 Recurve Girls), Jodies average score matched the girl in 1st place (u16), who is currently one of the best Junior Girls in the country.

Hannah’s average score was 90th of 106 of all Recurve Girls (21st of 26 under 14 Recurve Girls), but this includes a score following her injury, so not a true reflection of her ability.

Dan’s average score was 6oth of 115 of all Recurve Boys (25th of 46 under 16 Recurve Boys), however it was excellent to see Dan’s scores improve over last year!

Next year we need to stop Hannah doing cartwheels, handstands, etc and so doesn’t get injured.

We’ll sneak some sights/stabilisers onto Daisy’s bow.

And we’ll make sure Dan’s nocking points don’t move!

Richard.
