Gentleman, dedicated Field Archer and promoter of Field Archery, event organiser, Coach, Judge and the Founder of our club Overton Black Arrows.
November 2025 is a time for reflection and remembrance for Overton Black Arrows and the wider Archery community, especially within the Field & 3D Archery community.
Peter Turner sadly passed away peacefully earlier this month, the founder of archery club Overton Archers, then the founder of field archery club Black Arrows and subsequently, in 1975, a founding member of Overton Black Arrows, which was the amalgamation of the two clubs who shared, more or less, exactly the same membership.
Peter began his archery journey aged 15 or 16 and continued to take part in, be involved with and support the sport he loved for the rest of his life. He was even present and helping at the British 3D Championships in July 2025, the month after his 80th Birthday and around 65years after his archery journey began.
All told, the combined number of archers, coaches and judges whom Peter has helped over his lifetime taking part in and supporting the sport he loved and people within it, will no doubt number into the thousands.
The jolly friendly gentleman with his happy demeanour and always helpful and supportive attitude will have graced hundreds if not thousands of archery events and will be missed by a great many archers, coaches and judges alike, across Britain, Europe and quite possibly the World over.
